The End of August

The kids went back to school on the 18th! 10th, 6th, and 4th grades. It is hard to believe that Wesley is in high school, and that this is Bensen's last year in elementary! I am excited to see what this year brings!
Jaycee's first day of college was on the 25th! 🤩 Her first day of college was also the first day of her Switzerland trip! She was in Switzerland for her first two weeks of college! She’s crazy, but also crazy smart so she did just fine just fine! ❤️
On the 28th Mike took me to the Johnson Files, it was down in Orem. It was fun.
On the 30th we went and rode Spork.

Route to the Hiawatha and 4th of July

Me and Mike decided with long weekend to do something we have wanted to do for a long time, we drove about 8 hours to ride the Hiawatha trail. The kids didn’t think 17 hours in the car sounded fun, so we left them home. We had a little mishap about two hours into our drive, long story short, the bikes ended up dragging on the freeway for 20 seconds or so. 🫣 (bike locks fault…not Mikes) 3 hours, 3 bike shops, and two tires later we were back on the road!
We wanted to be to the trail early, according to our watch’s we got there right at 8:30 when the trail opens. We were the only people there! No workers nothing, we decided to just start. We rode through the first long tunnel (1.66 miles) half way through you cross from Montana to Idaho then we continued on when I checked my watch and it said 8:06! We jumped time zones! Again not our fault, how were we supposed to know the crazy time zones up here? (We checked a map at lunch, they are weird)Anyway we went nice and slow and really enjoyed our ride. We even got to see a few deer. 🦌 We thought about riding again, but the shuttle at the end was sooo slow! Mike probably could have ridden back to the top in the time we waited for it to come.
After our ride we went to Wallace and had lunch at Blackboard Cafe, saw the center of the universe, did a 4 mile hike (Pulaski tunnel trail) and drove through Burke which was supposed to be a ghost town. It was a good day! We got on the road early so we could roast hotdogs with the kids and celebrate the 4th of July. Happy Independence Day!

Costa Rica day 10

We packed up early and left by 6:30. Mike made baptism appointments for the San Jose temple at 12 and we had a 4 hour drive ahead of us. I am so glad we made this stop. It was awesome seeing Wes and Mike do baptisms in Spanish. It was a great way to finish up our trip! We had some time before we could check into our last Vrbo so we went to city mall Alajuela and had lunch. Mike contacted our next Vrbo for check in info, and they told us they were going to need to cancel! One hour before we were supposed to check in! I was so mad! But Mike found us a new place to stay in no time, it even had a washer and drier, so we could not smell terrible on our flights. He is the best! Our flight was early the next morning, we had to leave for the airport by 3 am. Now we are home. It was an amazing trip, but we are all ready to be home.
