More Bear Lake

Once or twice a year we have to pick up a lot of pine needles. During the week we spent some time cleaning them up!

Then on Thursday, it was back to Bear Lake.

This year besides the tick we found last time, there are a ton of caterpillars.

They kept the kids busy for a long time!

Sanding logs with safety glasses sucked! This time we came prepared with some goggles, they worked much better! I know the picture of me sucks, but I had to document that I was there, I am never in the pictures, because I take them. Mike loves to take the most flattering pictures of me.

They had a neighbor complain about the dyers woad, so we spent some time trying to pull it out. They worked really hard! They heard (from the complaining neighbor) that if they took bags of it to some building in Summit county they would get money for every bag. They did like 10 bags unfortunately it was still everywhere, and we didn't go home the right way and it would have been closed because or the weekend. But they worked so hard they earned some ice cream!

The kids begged for some lake time, so after lunch we went to the lake.

The water was obviously freezing! But that didn't stop some of them.

On our way home we stopped and got shakes for all our hard work and patience on the kids part. They are pretty good sports about coming and helping.

Then on Sunday we enjoyed some home church. We love home church. 

Later we went for a walk and Viv tried to ride her bike. She doesn't love it. I keep telling her if we take her training wheels off she would like it more. Soon hopefully.

Memorial Park

We headed straight form Bear Lake to Memorial Park where Mikes parent were camping.

We went up over Monte. It was a beautiful drive and we were able to see a lot of snow.

It is funny because a couple of weeks earlier me and the kids tried to drive up to see how deep the snow was, but the road was still closed.

The river was freezing, but the kids still thought they needed to get in it. You can tell that it really was freezing because none of them stayed in for very long.

It was nice just to relax.

I went back to the car to grab something, maybe some M&M's, I found a tick in the M&M bag! That little bugger! We must have picked him up in Bear Lake. I'm glad we didn't find it on any of us!

We all decided we needed to go home and shower.

The next morning we came back up. Jaycee and Wesley went kayaking with Josh and Emily, while they were kayaking the rest of us went for a little hike.

Wesley whittled.

It was so much warmer here then it was in Bear Lake!

The kids always love playing in the river, even when it is freezing!

Not a bad way to spend Memorial Day.

 

Bear Lake

We spent the weekend up at Bear Lake.

Vivian loves to help with the cabin!

For a minute anyway.

We worked on sanding the inside logs, and cutting the hole for the front door.

It was pretty cold and I spent a lot of time feeding the fire. When I went in to get ready for bed I noticed that I melted my hair pretty good! I'm just glad it didn't catch fire!

We always have some fun when we go up to Bear Lake, but we always talk about how nice it will be when we can just go up and relax and enjoy ourselves.

Beaver Dam

Amber and Tyson invited us down to Beaver Dam with them over the weekend.

We had so much fun!

We went to Little Jamaica. We defiantly went the hard way. We parked on the other side of the river and hiked in. It was a fun little hike, but once we were there we noticed people just coming down over the hill. Apparently you can park right up on top. Oh well, we had fun, and it wasn't too crowded on our side of the river.

We drove over to Gunlock...man talk about crowded! I have been going there for years and I have never seen anything like the crowds that were there. I guess everyone goes outside when there is nothing else to do! But it was a pretty drive and made several stops along the way to explore.

And use the bathroom!

We were able to stay at Tyson's parent and grandparents little vacation home in Beaver Dam.

I love going to new places we have never been.

The sunset were amazing!

On one of our days we drove to St. George and went to several different bike parks.

Bensen and Wes didn't love this part of our trip. Tyson took them and his boys back to the cars. I later learned that instead of riding his bike back Bensen slowly dragged his back to the car! To their credit though, it was really hot!

Viv loved the hills! I told her next time she needs to ride her own bike!

On our way back to Beaver Dam we did some more exploring.

If you go the backway, not on the freeway, you drive past all these little caves. They are just off the side of the road.

On our last day we had to back to the river. We still took the scenic route. It was so crowed this day, we went further down the river and floated. 

If there is a reptile to be caught you can guarantee that Wesley is going to catch it! He caught this tiny frog. We also saw a little dead turtle.

What a fun trip!
