Happy Birthday To Me

Oh my goodness, not only are we trying to deal with the effects of covid, but on the 18th of March we had an earthquake! A 5.7 in Magna. I sat around all day waiting for a bigger one. I think I was in shock. I just sat in a chair, watching the news. There have been some aftershocks. But nothing bigger then the original.

For my birthday started the day off right with some Sill's fritters and hashbrowns for breakfast.

The kids all made me fun little notes.

We did a puzzle, which is one of my favorite things.

I was surprised with a fruit basket.

And to end the day Viv cuddled up with me and fell asleep! Best present ever!

With being home and trying to figure out what we are supposed to be doing, it has been fun trying to keep the kids busy. They have colored the side walk several times over! 

It has been fun getting to spend so much time together.

Viv loves home church. I had to text her teachers and tell them what a great job they are doing, because she does a pretty good job with her lessons.

With the young women in the ward Jaycee has been doing challenges. They have been fun and we reap the rewards!

Who knows what will happen next?

Covid 19

    This post was written July 1, 2020. Ok, where to start. I told you Wesley's Battle of the Books was cancelled because of covid. What is covid exactly. Honestly at this time I don't think anyone really knows. While we were on our Vacation they started shutting things down, schools, stores, parks.  They called it a soft closure. Well, it turned out almost every state was shut down.  I think there were maybe 3 or 4 that didn't shut down. The kids never went back to school. When the closure happened it was only supposed to be for 2 week. 

    Now that it is July our state had moved to what they call Yellow phase. Stores were able to open. We still don't go out much. The kids haven't been anywhere. Me and Mike have been to the hardware and grocery store. Movie theaters and started to open again, but there are no new movies to go see. 

    We haven't been to church since March. Obviously the Come Follow Me program was inspired. We have been studying at home on our own. Mike blesses the sacrament on Sunday. Vivian loves home church, almost as much as I do. :) She gets her scriptures set up, and teaches us a lesson, she also tries to pass the sacrament. 

    Now that it is July Jaycee has just started playing soccer again. No real games, but they can do scrimmages, and practices. We are still being encouraged to wear a mask when we go out, and stay 6 feet away from others.

    I keep trying to tell the kids what a crazy world we are living in. If you had told me a year or so ago that a virus could shut down the world I would have said you were crazy! But it happened. So far we are all healthy, and pray that it continues.

    Here is some information that was copied from the CDC.

Know about COVID-19 

• Coronavirus (COVID-19) is an illness caused by a virus that can spread from person to person. 

• The virus that causes COVID-19 is a new coronavirus that has spread throughout the world. 

• COVID-19 symptoms can range from mild (or no symptoms) to severe illness. Know how COVID-19 is spread 

• You can become infected by coming into close contact (about 6 feet or two arm lengths) with a person who has COVID-19. COVID-19 is primarily spread from person to person. 

• You can become infected from respiratory droplets when an infected person coughs, sneezes, or talks. 

• You may also be able to get it by touching a surface or object that has the virus on it, and then by touching your mouth, nose, or eyes. Protect yourself and others from COVID-19 

• There is currently no vaccine to protect against COVID-19. The best way to protect yourself is to avoid being exposed to the virus that causes COVID-19. 

• Stay home as much as possible and avoid close contact with others. 

• Wear a cloth face covering that covers your nose and mouth in public settings. 

• Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces. 

• Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, or use an alcohol based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol. Practice social distancing 

• Buy groceries and medicine, go to the doctor, and complete banking activities online when possible. 

• If you must go in person, stay at least 6 feet away from others and disinfect items you must touch. 

• Get deliveries and takeout, and limit in-person contact as much as possible. Prevent the spread of COVID-19 if you are sick 

• Stay home if you are sick, except to get medical care. 

• Avoid public transportation, ride-sharing, or taxis. 

• Separate yourself from other people and pets in your home. 

• There is no specific treatment for COVID-19, but you can seek medical care to help relieve your symptoms. 

• If you need medical attention, call ahead. Know your risk for severe illness 

• Everyone is at risk of getting COVID-19. 

• Older adults and people of any age who have serious underlying medical conditions may be at higher risk for more severe illness.

Merry Christmas Grandma and Grandpa Borgstrom

For Christmas this year we all went in on a vacation for Mikes parents.

We rented a house in St.George.

Mike came down a day later. Wesley was supposed to be in the Battle of the Book on Friday. It ended up getting cancelled because of Covid, but that is a whole other story!!!

On our way down we stopped at the Lavender Farm.

It was pretty fun. The kids really liked it.

We went and checked out Gunlock. It wasn't overflowing just yet, but we still hiked around in the rain. Of coarse it would be cold and rainy when we go to St. George!

But we still had fun.

We also went into Snow Canyon and hiked the Lava Tubes.

We had so much fun. We swam and played games. The house we stayed in was amazing! 

On our way home we drove through Zions. The kids loved the tunnel.

Once through the tunnel we did a hike.

It was nice to get out and move around before our long car ride home.

Overall, we had an amazing trip. We love spending time with family.
