Since Wesley is now in young mens we had the opportunity to go on a high adventure trip in July. We did a 3 day, 2 night backpacking trip in the high Uintahs. We started at the Crystal Lake trail head and hiked in about 4 miles, stopping at a lake on the way for some fishing. At this lake Wesley was the only one to catch anything. He caught a flipper! After the stop for fishing we headed the rest of the way to the camp site, found a good spot to set up camp and pitched our tent. We made some lunch and Wesley took a nap. We made dinner, had a fireside and went to bed. Day 2 was spent hiking to various lakes, doing a little fishing with no success, playing cards, visiting, trail hiking, filtering water, and cooking more backpacking meals. All the meals were ok except for the Chili mac, in fact it became a expression we can use for trials in our life, "Chili Mac happens." The favorite was by far the fettuccini alfredo. Day 3 we made some oatmeal, packed up our bags and hiked out. Wesley did awesome, he was the first one to reach the parking lot...and he picked up the flipper he caught on day one, and hauled it back to the parking lot. We learned we need to buy lighter supplies and figure out a better sleep system. It was a fun trip, and beautiful views everywhere.
